I saw this art bomb today and it's totally how I feel. People are big enough to see, additional yellow signs warning people to not hit them are unnecessary.Squirrels and other animals, however, seem to be expected collateral as our big-ass Amurrcan Hummers and sports cars roar down city streets. Every time I see roadkill, it infuriates me because I truly believe that it could have been avoided if people just showed a little bit of care and respect for animal life.
Yes, animals do sometimes dart out into traffic, but if the driver is paying attention, he or she should see the animal deciding whether or not darting is a good idea, and thusly, should slow down.
Anyway, this wasn't going to be a soap box moment, I just appreciated the sign.

I disagree. I think there are a lot of idiots driving all sorts of cars that need to be constantly reminded not to hit people. Especially people.
Eh. People are big and are better about thinking for themselves and don't (usually) crazily run out into the street. I think people need to be looking for the little guys. Us big guys kinda know better.
I'm not concerned about people darting into the street (except for kids). What I'm saying is that people driving aren't aware of pedestrians and bikers and such.
It's true. Trust me, after resuming bike riding in LA, I am amazed at not only the ignorance of people of pedestrians/cyclists, but their absolute rage at anyone else besides cars using the road.
And I'm not saying that animals are more valuable than people, but I am saying that I wish people paid as much attention to avoiding them as they did avoiding other people.
Life is precious. (Says the meat eater.)
