So the election is over, and while it's mostly fantastic news, there's still the nasty thorn in the side of Californians known as Prop 8. This nasty piece of archaic bigotry was given enormous help in being pushed through by the disgusting fear ads largely financed by the Mormon Church. But, of course, they're not alone... the Catholic Church has their hand in it, as well as a multitude of business, small and large. It came to my attention this morning that El Pollo Loco is one of those business. *sigh* And I had just started to enjoy their super nachos, and the chicken tamale bowl I had over the weekend was pretty bomb, too, but those days are behind me. I cannot, in good faith, support a company financially that supports bigotry, discrimination, and suppression of people's rights. No sir. If I no longer watch The People's Court, I will no longer eat El Pollo Loco. Damn.
So, I've written a letter to EPL, and if you feel the same, I encourage you to do so, too... mail those letters of disappointment and rage to:
El Pollo
3535 Harbo
Costa
And let the boycott begin!
I've also heard tell Cinemark was a big contributor, and El Coyote over the hill is another. Please do your part, and put your money where your heart is. Let business owners - small or big - know that human decency and basics rights are not something to be trifled with.
There's a pretty impressive list of major donors on CaliforniansAgainstHate.com. Happy reading!
EDIT: According to Dana,
"Alright, it looks like it's NOT all of EPL. It's some douche who's the president of WKS, a major restaurant franchiser, and they own a CRAP TON of the EPL's in California... but not all of them. I found a list of which one's he owns being passed around the interweb. Check it out here...
... and for more contributors with LA eateries, check here."
Way to go, Det. DeRuyck!

NICE!!! Doing the work of the good... I'll add it to the blog.
So what's it about NPH?
Don't you know? Doogie's Gay!
What's wrong with the People's Court?
They were showing Yes on Prop 8 commercials on KCAL 9 during PC, I emailed both of them and told them I was done. Of course, this was before I realized other stations were doing the same thing... but I said it, and I'm sticking to it... no KCAL 9, no PC.
